These beer tap handles began in 2012 at the Ossabaw Island Foundation, Annual Pig Roast. A vendor who donated beer forgot to bring the tap handles, so OIF employee Mark Frissell and I set out to the island DNR shop to quickly build a few. Mark’s broken fishing rod and reel tap handle and my found wood handle were finished just in time to tap the kegs for the guests. Those were later auctioned off in the live auction and a tradition began. Most of these taps were built for OIF and now reside with Kevin Ryan, owner of Service Brewing Co., who has generously contributed to the OIF annual fundraisers for the past several years. Most of the materials are found on the island itself and include parts of old vehicles left on the island.
